Our Story: How it all Began?
The Nile Care Advocacy for Peace and Development (NILECAPD) was founded by Mr. Bayak Chuol Puoch, a humanitarian and peace activist dedicated to peacebuilding and humanitarian assistance initiatives that culminate in peace and conflict prevention.
The need to establish NILECAPD resulted from the war-related conflicts in 2013 in the capital city of Juba, South Sudan, which divided the country along ethnic lines.
Mr. Bayak initially invited friends, community leaders and Jiokow residents for a lengthy and constructive meeting held under a tree in Jiokow village, Upper Nile State.
Consecutive meetings were later held with other neighbouring communities and states. A decision was reached to establish and register an active non-for-profit organization that will advocate for peace, unity and cooperation among the South Sudanese while promoting economic growth and development.
