Who We Are

Providing life-saving care to those in need.

Nile Care Advocacy for Peace and Development

Nile Care Advocacy for Peace and Development (NILECAPD) is a grassroots humanitarian and development organization working in South Sudan and Canada to restore dignity, foster peace, and build self-reliant communities. Founded in response to the 2013 civil war, NILECAPD combines peacebuilding, humanitarian aid, and long-term development across sectors such as food security, health, education, and protection. Through a community-centered approach—reaching the hardest-to-reach and walking alongside individuals and families—the organization supports refugees, returnees, and vulnerable immigrants to rebuild their lives with resilience, opportunity, and hope.

Our Mission

To build a stronger community by connecting South Sudanese in need to life-saving resources, fostering peace, and walking the journey together.

Our Vision

A peaceful, resilient, self-reliant South Sudanese families and communities.

Our Values

  • Reaching the Hard-to-Reach - whether in Alberta reaching the unhoused or disenfranchised or in South Sudan serving rural communities, we reach people on the margins that other organizations can't reach effectively.

  • Peace - We support Holistic Peace: Peace of mind, peace in the family, peace among the community and the economic stability necessary for peace

  • Courage - We have strong hearts to serve even when it's difficult

  • Accountability - We do our work openly and honestly with people, families and partners to make sure our work can achieve lasting progress

  • Walking together - We don’t just serve people in need — we walk beside them until they are ready to lead. We walk together with community partners towards common goals
